Department of Civil Engineering, Integral University Organizes HR Meet

Lucknow, India – November 12, 2024 – The Department of Civil Engineering, Integral University hosted an HR Meet on November 12, 2024, aimed at bridging the gap between industry and academia. The event provided students an opportunity to directly interact with senior HR professionals from various reputed companies and government sectors to discuss industry expectations and career development.

The event saw participation from top HR professionals representing companies like UltraTech Cement, Shalimar Group, Pathfinder Unleash Potential Academy, SMJ and Bajaj Services and Government departments such as Uttar Pradesh Irrigation Department and UPMRC, along with a large number of students from Integral University. Prof. Syed Aqeel Ahmad, Head, Department of Civil Engineering, welcomed the distinguished guests and highlighted the department's strong industry connections through consultancy services and strategic partnerships, which play a key role in student development. Prof. Rajiv Ranjan, Dean, Integral Business School, emphasized the importance of Public-Social-Private Partnerships (PSPP) and synergism in the development of market oriented human recourses. Prof. Abdul Azeez, Dean, Faculty of Engineering & IT, underscored the need to align academic curricula with industry needs, advocating for industry feedback to better prepare students for their careers.

Mr. Ashish Yadav, Executive Engineer at the UP Irrigation Department, discussed India’s goal of becoming a $5 trillion economy and the crucial role engineers will play in achieving this vision. Mr. Abhishek Ranjan, Additional General Manager/HR, UPMRC highlighted the need for targeted training to bridge the academia–industry gap. Mr. C.K. Mangalam, Superintendent Engineer UP Irrigation Department, emphasized on participation in professional associations for networking and awareness.

Prof. Javed Musarrat, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Integral University, emphasized the need for students to understand professional realities. He stressed the importance of internships and key skills like communication, adaptability, and proficiency in emerging technologies such as AI and robotics. The inaugural session concluded with the national anthem, followed by a panel discussion featuring prominent HR professionals. The discussion addressed key aspects of career development and industry expectations. Panellists emphasized the importance of knowledge, discipline, and persistence, highlighting the need for strong communication skills and the ability to learn continuously. The gap between academia and industry was discussed, with a strong recommendation for internships as a means to bridge this divide.
