Jhansi. Host Jhansi Mandal performed brilliantly in the Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya State Level Senior Men Hockey Competition being held at Major Dhyanchand Astroturf Hockey Stadium today and defeated Devipatan Mandal 8-0 in a one-sided league match and entered the knockout round.

In the first match of the day today, Basti defeated Azamgarh by 3-1 goals. Akash Verma scored 2 goals and Brijesh Yadav scored 1 goal in the 22nd and 44th minutes from the winning team. While Suraj Chaurasia scored one goal from Azamgarh's side.

In the second match, Bareilly Mandal defeated Chitrakoot Mandal 9-0 in a one-sided match. Sajal scored the maximum 4 goals from Bareilly's side in the 4th, 21st, 31st and 54th minutes. Jitin scored 3 goals and Mohd. Danish scored 2 goals.

In the third match, Ayodhya defeated Devipatan by a score of 2-0. Captain Abdula Mujeeb and Mohd. Sahajan scored 1-1 goals in the 7th and 35th minutes. In the fourth match, Lucknow defeated by 5-0 goals. Triloki scored the highest number of goals from Lucknow division, 2 goals.In the fifth match, Moradabad and Agra ended in a draw with a score of 2-2.

In the sixth match, host Jhansi division defeated Devipatan division by 8-0. Ajay Yadav, Vivek Yadav and Raghavendra scored 2-2 goals from Jhansi team and Irfan Hussain and Ankit Patel scored 1-1 goals.In the seventh match, Mirzapur registered a 6-1 win over Chitrakoot division. Sumar scored the highest number of 2 goals from Mirzapur.

A close contest was witnessed in the last league match of the day. In which Meerut had to face defeat by 3-2 goals at the hands of Basti. Vivek Yadav scored 2 goals from Basti division. The judges of the matches were Sunil Kumar, Amit Gupta, Rupendra Singh, Sunil Gupta, Syed Ehtisham Ali, Ashok Ojha, Mohd. Rafiq, Sushil Maharshi, Sunita Tiwari, Sushma Kumari, Vinamr Khandekar. Tournament director Rajesh Sonkar conducted the matches smoothly. In-charge regional sports officer Suresh Bonkar said that important matches of the competition will be played on October 26 from 7 am.
