A week long workshop and an Awareness Program held from 18th to 22nd March , 2024 organised by the Department of Environmental Science for "Urban Water Management and Nature Conservation" came to an end  today on 22nd March, this workshop has been co-organised by UP Jal Nigam (Urban) Lucknow and CII- Young Indians (Yi)- Climate Action Vertical.

The valedictory session started with a floral welcome of the esteemed guests Dr Nilanjan Mukherji, Director CCG&D, Integral University, Er Shamim Akhtar Supritendant Engineer UP Jal Nigam Lucknow, Prof (Dr.) Venkatesh Dutta, Department of Environmental Science, School of Earth and Environmental Sciences (SEES) BBAU, Lucknow, Dr. Chandra Mohan Nautiyal, Prog. Consultant (Sci. Communication) Indian National Science Academy-INSA, New Delhi and Prof. (Dr). Mohammad Haris Siddique, Registrar, Integral University.

The session began with a welcome address, followed by a report on the previous days' workshop activities for the participants and significant guests. Guests expressed their gratitude and commended the organizers and participants on the successful conclusion of the workshop, which was incredibly educational and valuable to everyone who participated.
 

The participants had the opportunity to visit a 345 MLD STP at Bharwara STP, recognized as Asia's largest STP covering an area of nearly 122 hectares, located at Bharwara in Gomti Nagar, Lucknow, and a 60 MLD WTP (Water Treatment Plant) at Jal Nigam, Aishbagh, Lucknow, as well as took part in an awareness and cleaning drive of the Gomti River (Kukrail SPS to Gomti Barrage), in collaboration with RJ Prateek from RadioMirchi. They obtained a detailed understanding of the operations of STP (Sewage Treatment Plant), FSTP (Faecal Sludge and Septage Management), and WTP (Water Treatment Plant).   

Some exciting activities were also conducted to keep up the zeal of the workshop for "Urban Water Management and Nature Conservation". Competitions such as Quiz, Debate, Model making and Poster making were organized where students from various streams actively took part. The winners were felicitated on the final day of valedictory session. An MoU was also signed by Integral University and UP Jal Nigam (Urban), Lucknow. In the past days of the workshop various events took place to enhance the understanding and  and to build a kind of mindset of conservation of the participants towards the urban water management and to identify the problems created due to the water crisis in the current scenario.

Throughout the workshop, several events were held to enhance participants' comprehension and promote a conservation attitude toward urban water management, as well as to highlight the difficulties caused by the current water crisis. Students from various streams enthusiastically participated in competitions such as quizzes, debates, model making, and poster making.

The winners were honoured on the last day of the valedictory session. Integral University and UP Jal Nigam (Urban), Lucknow also signed an MoU to continue such activities and awareness programs. 

This weeklong workshop and awareness program was extremely successful and beneficial, with students and faculty members learning a lot about urban water management and nature conservation.
