CSIR-CIMAP exchanges Memorandum of Agreement with Haleon UK at Science Centre, New Delhi
During this occasion, Dr Kailaiselvi, DG CSIR appreciated the efforts of CSIR – CIMAP towards creating sustainable supply chain in menthol mint along with aim to uplift the socio-economy of the menthol mint cultivating farmers. She also said that this project will also help in improvement of soil and environment by reducing the input requirement of the mint crop.
Dr Prabodh K. Trivedi, Director, CSIR – CIMAP apprised about the objectives of the project which will be for a duration of four years wherein more than 5000 farmers of Barabanki would be benefitted by the high yielding variety (CIM-Unnati) of menthol mint, improved agro-technologies for reducing the inputs and improve the yield, drone based crop monitoring and spraying at farmers field, solar distillation unit to reduce the carbon footprint and also waste to wealth initiatives like vermicomposting from distillation waste.
