Integral University commenced a 3-Day Astrophysics and Cosmology workshop on May 02, 2024, with a floral welcome and the melodious rendition of the university Tarana, setting a scholarly tone for the day’s proceedings.

The workshop, spearheaded by Professor Shamoon Ahmad Siddiqui, Head, Department of Physics, and coordinated by Dr. Mohd Shah Alam, aims to deepen the understanding of the cosmos through an engaging series of lectures, discussions, and hands-on activities.

Prof. Javed Musarrat, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Integral University, delivered an inspiring address that highlighted the university’s dedication to fostering scientific inquiry and collaboration. Professor Abdul Rahman Khan, Dean, Faculty of Sciences, offered insights that paved the way for enriching talks by distinguished guests such as Prof. Mohammad Sajjad Athar from the Department of Physics, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh and Prof. T. R. Seshadri from the Department of Physics and Astrophysics, University of Delhi.

The afternoon sessions saw vibrant discussions and groundbreaking lectures on topics ranging from the synthesis of elements in stars by Professor Athar, to the mysteries of the cosmos addressed by Professor Seshadri. Dr. Anand Sengupta and Dr. Sanil Unnikrishnan further captivated the audience with their lectures on gravitational waves and the general theory of relativity, respectively.


The workshop gathered an impressive assembly of academics, including Deans, HoDs, and researchers from various universities, all united in their quest for knowledge. Set to conclude on May 4, 2024, the event promises to inspire and equip participants with new insights into the expanding universe.
