Integral University Marks World Mental Health Day with Film-Led Conversation on Stigma

Emotional Journey Through Film and Expert Panel
The core of the event was the screening of “Restart,” a poignant short film directed by renowned Bollywood filmmaker and mental health advocate, Mr. Iqbaal Rizvi. The film chronicled a suicide survivor’s powerful journey from profound grief to eventual healing, deeply resonating with the audience.
Following the screening, a dynamic panel discussion took place, moderated by RJ Amir. The panel featured Mr. Rizvi, Ms. Farah Sarosh (CEO, NurtureLife), and Dr. Neha Anand (Consultant Psychologist). The experts collectively stressed the importance of emotional awareness, open communication, and integrating mental health education into society to actively combat associated stigma.

Focus on Creative and Technical Education
Adding a practical learning element, Mr. Rizvi also conducted an exclusive filmmaking workshop for students of the Department of Mass Communication. He shared critical insights into producing quality films, covering key techniques such as effective camera angles, optimal lighting, powerful storytelling, and modern editing methods.

Acknowledgments and Closing Remarks
The event saw active participation from the university's leadership, setting a positive tone for the mental health initiative. Prof. Alveena Farooqui, Head of the Department of Bioengineering, delivered the welcome address, and Prof. Monowar Alam Khalid, Dean of Students Welfare, felicitated the honored guests.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Snober S. Mir, Head of the Department of Biosciences, who urged collective efforts within the university community to prioritize mental well-being throughout the year.
