Lucknow desk (R L Pandey).Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (Dr. RMLIMS), Lucknow organized “Two-Day intensive workshop on Research Methodology and Proposal Writing” for its resident doctors and faculty in collaboration with the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) and the Indian Institute of Public Health Delhi (IIPH-Delhi) on 17th and 18th January 2025.

This event was attended by over 50 participants from the institute, including participants and observers from Regional Centers of ICMR Gorakhpur and Patna centers. The aim of the workshop was to enhance the research skills of post-graduate students and faculty. The workshop included training on research study designs, literature search, biostatistics, ethical considerations in research, and effective grant writing.

The workshop also briefed on the topics of Qualitative Research and Systematic Reviews. Earlier, the workshop is to be inaugurated by Prof C M Singh, Director (Dr RMLIMS) with Prof Rajesh Nair, PHFI, in presence of Prof Vineeta Mittal; Prof Ajai Kumar Singh from the institute and Prof Preeti Negandhi from IIPH, New Delhi.


A MoU regarding academic collaboration between both institutes was signed by Prof C M Singh, Director of Dr RMLIMS and Prof Sanjay Zodpey, President of PHFI last year. The workshop is the first in this series of several academic collaborations to follow later this year.

PHFI and IIPH would also support interested faculty from Dr RMLIMS in getting online training on several courses currently conducted by them. This initiative aligns with the National Medical Council's directives and supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by enhancing the quality and impact of healthcare research in India.

Such initiatives provide excellent opportunity for faculty and residents of tertiary medical institutes in identifying the major public health problems and finding sustainable solutions for them. The workshop featured distinguished speakers who are leading experts in their respective fields, namely, Dr Pushkar Kumar, Prof Preeti Negandhi, Prof Ranjana Singh & Prof Rajesh Nair from the IIPH and PHFI; and Dr Amit Kaushik, Dr Arvind Kumar Singh & Dr Sumeet Dixit from Dr RMLIMS.
