Mardaani 3, produced by Yash Raj Films and headlined by Rani Mukerji, has emerged as one of the biggest success stories across theatres and streaming platforms alike. After a remarkable theatrical run, the film has now completed 30 consecutive days of trending on Netflix, further strengthening the legacy of India’s only successful female-led film franchise.

The film grossed over ₹53 crore nett in India, making it the highest-grossing installment of the franchise so far. In an era where films struggle for long theatrical runs, Mardaani 3 also achieved the rare feat of completing 50 days in cinemas.

On its opening day, the film exceeded expectations by collecting ₹4 crore, becoming the biggest opener for both the franchise and a solo Rani Mukerji starrer.

Rani Mukerji on the film’s emotional journey

Speaking about the overwhelming response, Rani Mukerji shared that the journey of Mardaani 3 has been deeply emotional for her.

She said the film connected with audiences first in theatres and later across the globe on streaming, proving that strong female-led stories can resonate universally. According to her, the success of the film reflects a major shift in audience preferences, where viewers are embracing stories driven by courage, justice, honesty, and social relevance.

Rani emphasized that meaningful storytelling can be both commercially successful and culturally impactful. She added that films with emotional depth and a strong moral voice have the power to travel far beyond theatres and find a place in millions of hearts worldwide.

A franchise that continues to resonate

Rani Mukerji also highlighted that the entire Mardaani franchise is being rediscovered by audiences together on streaming platforms, which shows that the series has evolved into much more than just entertainment.

She noted that the character Shivani Shivaji Roy has become a powerful symbol for audiences not only in India but globally, helping the franchise maintain its popularity for over a decade.

Carrying forward a strong cinematic legacy

Directed by Abhiraj Minawala and produced by Aditya Chopra, Mardaani 3 continues the franchise’s tradition of hard-hitting and socially relevant storytelling.

Over the last 12 years, the Mardaani series has established itself as a successful theatrical franchise in a genre traditionally dominated by male stars. With this latest success, the series has now delivered a hat-trick of hits, cementing its status as India’s only successful female-led and female-cop film franchise.

For Rani Mukerji, this achievement is particularly special as she marks her 30th year as a leading lady in Indian cinema, once again proving her enduring box office appeal and unmatched longevity in the industry.
