"25th Anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas"
The sacred soil of the Kargil region was brought to the auditorium by the Jammu and Kashmir Study Center of the Department and flowers were offered in memory of the martyred soldiers. The chief guests of the program were Brigadier Neeraj Punetha and Colonel Ratnakar Trivedi. The lecture began with the lighting of the lamp. Thereafter, the people present in the auditorium observed 2 minutes of silence as a mark of tribute to soldiers martyred in the Kargil War. Prof. Sanjay Gupta,
Head of the Department of Political Science, gave a detailed description of the achievements of the Indian Army and welcomed Brigadier Neeraj Punetha and Colonel Ratnakar Trivedi and introduced the topic of the lecture. Prof. Sanjay Gupta explained the main points of the lecture, its importance and its message for the present and future generations. He also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Hon'ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Alok Kumar Rai for encouraging such valuable lectures, seminars, conferences and workshops in the university.
The keynote speaker of the lecture, Brigadier Neeraj Punetha, informed the audience about the circumstances during the Kargil war. He narrated how our soldiers defeated Pakistan with their bravery and valour. Colonel Ratnakar and retired Major General J. S. Yadav shared their experiences during the Kargil war.
At the end of the lecture, Dr. Amit Kushwaha thanked Brigadier Neeraj Punetha, Colonel Ratnakar Trivedi, Major General J. S. Yadav, students, researchers and all the faculty members of the Department of Political Science - Prof. Manuka Khanna, Prof. Kamal Kumar, Prof. Kaviraj, Prof. Raghavendra Singh, Dr. Amit Kushwaha, Dr. Shikha Chauhan, Dr. Rajiv Sagar, Dr. Anamika, Dr. Jitendra Kumar, Dr. Dinesh Kumar and Dr. Madhuri Sahu and other students. The program concluded with the national anthem. After the program, the Department planted a tree sapling in the memory of the martyrs.
