77 Year-Old Woman Recovers from Severe Heart Failure after Advanced Cardiac Procedure by Doctors at Max Hospital, Lucknow
Mrs. Namita Srivastava, a resident of Lucknow, had been experiencing persistent palpitations (rapid or irregular heartbeat), severe breathlessness, weakness, dizziness, and low blood pressure for nearly a month before being admitted to the hospital. A known patient of hypertension and an enlarged and weakened heart, her heart’s pumping capacity had severely dropped, indicating heart failure. She had also collapsed & also last month she fainted at home multiple times.
Seeking advanced treatment, Mrs. Namita Srivastava was brought to Emergency at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Lucknow, where doctors diagnosed her with repeated episodes of Atrial Fibrillation (an irregular heart rhythm) along with Tachy-Brady Syndrome, a condition in which the heart beats alternately too fast and too slow. She was in a state of cardiogenic shock with acute kidney injury and low urine output. Although her heart arteries were normal, doctors found that the heart’s electrical system was severely affected, along with Left Bundle Branch Block (LBBB), a delay in electrical signals reaching the left side of the heart, which was worsening her heart failure.
A cardiology team led by Dr. Danish Hasan Kazmi, Director & Unit Head, Cardiology, Max Super Speciality Hospital, Lucknow, performed a CRT-P (Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy Pacemaker) implantation — an advanced pacemaker therapy that helps improve heart function by synchronizing the beating of both sides of the heart.
Following the procedure, the patient showed significant improvement with stabilization of heart rhythm and recovery from heart failure symptoms. She was later discharged in stable condition after intensive cardiac monitoring and supportive treatment.
Speaking about the case, Dr. Danish Hasan Kazmi said, “Advanced cardiac rhythm management therapies such as CRT-P can significantly improve survival and quality of life in carefully selected heart failure patients when performed at the right time. Early diagnosis and timely intervention are critical, especially in elderly patients experiencing symptoms such as breathlessness, palpitations, dizziness, or fainting episodes.”
The successful management of this complex cardiac case reflects Max Super Speciality Hospital, Lucknow’s commitment to advanced, patient-centric cardiac care backed by cutting-edge technology and expert multidisciplinary teams. The hospital continues to strengthen its capabilities in treating critical and complex heart conditions across the region.
