Lucknow desk (R L Pandey).On October 19, 2024, the Indira Gandhi Planetarium, Lucknow, organized a Solar Viewing and Night Sky Observation event for the students of Sri Devadidev Mahadev School and the general public in Gangaganj, Lucknow. The program was completely free of charge. The Indira Gandhi Planetarium, Lucknow, regularly organizes astronomical events at various locations across Uttar Pradesh for the public. On this occasion, four telescopes were set up by the Indira Gandhi Planetarium.

The program was conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Amateur Astronomers Club of Indira Gandhi Planetarium. Present at the event were Dr. Alka Mishra, Associate Professor at Lucknow University and founder of the Uttar Pradesh Amateur Astronomers Club, along with Mr. Anil Yadav, former Director of the Council of Science and Technology, Uttar Pradesh.

After observing the Sun, the phases of the Moon and Venus, and the planets Jupiter and Saturn through telescopes, attendees were introduced to various star clusters and participated in night sky viewing. The event was organized by Sankalp Mohan, Shubham Srivastava, Swapnil Rastogi, Shubhashish Pandey, Anurag Awasthi, Mohammad Anas, Anshika Yadav, and other members.

Young children from the school asked intriguing questions such as, "How is the Moon hanging in the sky?", "Why doesn't the water beneath the Earth fall?", "Why do we have day and night?", "Why does the Earth rotate?", and "When will we go to Mars?" All questions were answered by club members, and the children were encouraged to connect both spirituality and science.
