A Student-led Discussion on the Union Budget, 2025

Lucknow desk (R L Pandey).The Department of Management, Faculty of Management Studies, organised Youth Parliament 2025, a dynamic platform for students to engage in insightful discussions on February 11, 2025.
The theme, "Discussion on the Union Budget, 2025," aimed to provide students with an in-depth understanding of fiscal policies, economic strategies, and governance. This was a first-of-its-kind event where management students exhibited their view of nation-building. The event provided a platform for students to critically analyse budgetary policies and engage in meaningful discussions on economic governance with 11 speakers.
Participants enacted the role of various ministers and engaged in a simulated parliamentary session where they deliberated on key budgetary allocations and their implications. This interactive event enabled students to develop essential critical thinking, decision-making, and public speaking skills, preparing them for leadership roles in the future.
Ayush Kumar Jaiswal (MBA Semester II) represented the Ministry of Defence, Garima Mishra (MBA Semester IV) represented Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Sachin Porwal (MBA Semester IV) year represented Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Riya Govil (MBA Semester IV) represented Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Anupma Yadav (MBA Semester II) Ministry of Education, Anand Maurya (MBA Semester II) Ministry of Finance, Aayushi Nigam (MBA Semester II) Ministry of MSME, Akhand Pratap Singh (MBA Semester IV) Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Preeti (MBA Semester II) Ministry of Home Affairs, Tejasvi Mishra (MBA Semester II) Ministry of skill development and Entrepreneurship, Kartikeya Kushwaha (MBA Semester IV) Ministry of Railways, and Sheereen Shah enacted as the speaker of the house.
Prof. Sangeeta Sahu, Head & Dean, Faculty of Management Studies LU, commended the initiative and encouraged students to actively participate in such simulations. In her address, she emphasized that "the Youth Parliament is not just an academic exercise; it is a stepping stone for students to engage with real-world issues and develop critical thinking."
The Youth Parliament 2025 was more than just a discussion—it was an opportunity to experience the complexities of policymaking, understand national economic priorities, and sharpen analytical abilities in a real-world setting.
