Abhijnana” Workshop on Decolonization in Civil Service Training Institutes Held at IIT Delhi

Lucknow desk (R L Pandey).Today on March 4, 2025, The Abhijnana Workshop for Decolonization in Civil Service Training Institutes (CSTIs) was successfully conducted today at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), New Delhi. Organized in collaboration with the Capacity Building Commission (CBC), the training division of the Department of Personnel & Training, the IKS Programme at IIT Delhi, and INDICA – an Institute for Indian Knowledge Systems, the workshop aims to integrate Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) into civil service training for effective capacity building.
The workshop was attended by distinguished dignitaries, including Shri Sanjay Tripathi, Additional Director General, Indian Railways Institute of Transport Management, Lucknow. Eminent faculty members from premier institutions such as IITs, IIMs, and IKS organizations led the sessions, providing deep insights into the impact of colonial constructs on Indian institutions and the need for realignment with Bharat’s civilizational ethos.
Key themes of the workshop included:
• Embedding IKS in institutional practices
• Understanding the need for decolonization
• Identifying elements for transformation
• Practical strategies for implementation
The discussions emphasized Samagra Bharateeya Jeevana Drishti, integrating India’s cultural wisdom with governance to strengthen public administration. Participants engaged in interactive sessions, group work, and strategy formulation to design actionable approaches for decolonizing training curricula and institutional culture.
By fostering a governance model rooted in India’s civilizational strengths, the Abhijnana workshop represents a significant step toward aligning administration with the nation’s indigenous knowledge systems. This initiative aspires to reshape public service training, ensuring more culturally attuned and effective governance in India.
