Lucknow Desk (R.L. Pandey):

Bharti Airtel has taken a major leap in digital safety by successfully protecting over 1.5 crore users in Uttar Pradesh (East) from rising cyber frauds. This milestone was achieved within just 56 days of deploying its AI-driven fraud detection system, part of Airtel’s nationwide initiative to create a safer digital environment.

In a key development, Amit Gupta, CEO – Uttar Pradesh (East), Bharti Airtel, met with ADG Technical Services, Uttar Pradesh Police, Mr. Naveen Arora (IPS), to discuss the implementation of Airtel’s fraud prevention framework and explore collaborative solutions to combat the increasing menace of online scams across the state.

How the System Works

This advanced, AI-powered fraud detection system is automatically activated for all Airtel mobile and broadband users. It continuously monitors and scans digital platforms including SMS, WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Telegram, email, and web browsers, filtering out malicious links in real time.
Processing over 1 billion URLs daily, the system identifies and blocks harmful websites within 100 milliseconds. For example, if a user in Prayagraj receives a phishing message such as “Your package is delayed. Track it here: http://www.tracky0urparcell.com”, the moment they click the link, Airtel’s system evaluates it. If found risky, it blocks access and displays a warning message:
“Blocked! Airtel found this site dangerous!”
This instantaneous interception prevents users from falling prey to scams like phishing, fake delivery updates, and fraudulent banking alerts.

Airtel’s Commitment to Cybersecurity

Speaking on the initiative, Amit Gupta stated:

> “At Airtel, we are deeply committed to securing our customers from evolving digital threats. Our fraud detection solution aims to provide end-to-end protection across every platform. With this technology, we’re enabling users to explore the digital world with greater confidence and safety.”

Widespread Protection Across Urban & Rural UP

The rise of digital adoption in Uttar Pradesh, especially in cities like Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, and Prayagraj, as well as districts like Jaunpur, Mau, Mirzapur, Kushinagar, and Kanpur Dehat, has also made the state vulnerable to online fraud. Scammers are targeting users with increased sophistication, from rural homemakers to urban professionals.
Airtel’s solution acts as a digital safety net—particularly for first-time smartphone users, elderly citizens, students, and homemakers. It also delivers fraud alerts in local languages, including Hindi, ensuring that even users with limited digital literacy are protected.

Whether it’s a student in Varanasi, a working professional in Lucknow, or a homemaker in Kanpur, Airtel ensures every digital interaction is secure, private, and worry-free.
