harti Airtel’s Vice Chairman & Managing Director, Gopal Vittal, has issued an important advisory to customers amid the rising wave of digital scams. With frauds such as fake parcel delivery calls, phishing messages, and digital arrest scams becoming more sophisticated, Airtel has strengthened its commitment to user safety through new security initiatives.

In a letter to subscribers, Vittal announced the introduction of Airtel Payments Bank’s Safe Second Account—a secure and simplified banking option designed to keep customers’ savings safe by separating UPI payments from their primary bank accounts.

Highlighting the increasing risk of linking a primary savings account to UPI apps, Vittal noted that any breach or unauthorized transaction could directly affect a customer’s main funds.Any fraud on our network pains us deeply. Your safety will always be our highest priority,” he said.
“While Airtel has implemented AI-powered alerts and blocks for spam calls, messages, and malicious links, digital payments require an additional layer of protection. The Safe Second Account provides exactly that.”
