Lucknow, 7 January 2026: AMA Herbal Group has been granted a patent by the Government of India for its innovative textile technology, VegeBact-N. The patent covers a proprietary process that transforms fruit waste into a safe, antibacterial, and deodorant formulation that can be effectively applied to fabrics.
Developed entirely in India, VegeBact-N reflects AMA Herbal’s commitment to providing the textile industry with solutions that are safe for human health, gentle on fabrics, and environmentally responsible. The technology offers a natural alternative to conventional chemical and metal-based textile treatments, making it highly relevant for brands seeking cleaner, more sustainable manufacturing practices.
AMA Herbal views the patent not merely as a corporate milestone, but as a positive signal from India to the global market—demonstrating that environmentally conscious technologies developed domestically are earning formal recognition and international relevance. The achievement underscores India’s growing strength in scientific innovation and sustainable manufacturing.
Traditionally, many textile treatment and washing products have relied on metal-based formulations containing harmful nano-particles. These particles can penetrate the skin, enter the bloodstream, and pose health risks. During washing, they are released into water bodies, where they damage aquatic ecosystems by destroying beneficial microorganisms.
VegeBact-N provides a safer alternative.
It is a natural, metal-free, India-patented solution that is also cost-effective. Derived from fruit waste such as apples, sugarcane, grapes, and oranges, VegeBact-N forms a thin protective layer on fabrics that inhibits odor-causing bacteria. This keeps garments fresher for longer periods, with effectiveness lasting through more than 40 washes, thereby significantly reducing the need for frequent laundering.
With 98% plant-based content, VegeBact-N is environmentally friendly and supports water conservation—an important advantage for regions facing water scarcity. The technology can be seamlessly integrated either during textile manufacturing or at the final laundry rinse stage, using existing infrastructure without requiring additional capital investment.
VegeBact-N is suitable for everyday apparel, children’s clothing, innerwear, and home textiles. Beyond its environmental benefits, the technology also generates livelihood opportunities through the collection and utilization of fruit waste.
AMA Herbal stated that receiving the patent has further strengthened its confidence and long-term commitment to innovation. The company aims to continue developing solutions that help the textile industry transition toward safer, more sustainable, and nature-friendly practices. The patent serves as a strong foundation for future growth and expansion.
Commenting on the achievement, Mr. Yawar Ali Shah, Co-Founder and CEO of AMA Herbal, said:
“Guided by our vision to raise awareness about the benefits of natural products and make them accessible, we developed VegeBact-N. It is a metal-free solution that delivers effectiveness comparable to conventional alternatives, while being safer and more affordable. These qualities enhance its acceptance, and its cost-effectiveness ensures that it poses no challenges for the industries adopting it.”
