Bank Retirees Association Conducts 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' Plantation Drive on Bank Nationalization Day in Lucknow
LUCKNOW: To commemorate Bank Nationalization Day, the state unit of the All India Bank Pensioners and Retirees Confederation (AIBPRC) organized a large-scale environmental initiative in Lucknow. Under the national banner of the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' (A Tree in Mother's Name) campaign, the association conducted tree plantation drives across three key locations in the capital city.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from retired banking professionals, their family members, and local citizens. Special emphasis was placed on involving children, nurturing in them a sense of environmental responsibility and teaching them to care for nature as a fundamental duty.
Multi-Location Plantation Drive
The green drive commenced in the morning and covered prominent areas across the city:

Sector I, LDA Colony (Kanpur Road): The campaign kicked off with bankers planting saplings alongside local community members.

Sadbhavana Park, Sector M (Ashiana): The second phase took place in Ashiana, where local Municipal Councillor Kamlesh Singh joined the retirees to support the cause.

Apna Park, Paper Mill Colony: The final drive took place at 5:00 PM in collaboration with Maitri Sanstha, bringing together environmental advocates and local residents.
The drive was spearheaded by AIBPRC State Unit President R.S. Verma and State Secretary R.K. Verma.
Active Participation & Community Support
A prominent delegation from the All India Bank Pensioners Association participated in the plantation efforts, including Salil Chandra, A.C. Jaitly, T.S. Gautam, Sarva Mitra Bhatt, H.S. Rawat, Deep Sharma, Rakesh Sharma, Rajiv Khanna, B.P. Sharma, and Arun Sharma.
Representatives from Maitri Sanstha also turned out in large numbers to support the initiative. Key members present included Mrs. Manju Sharma, Mrs. Neera Pandey, Som Chatterjee, Reena Saxena, Manju Rawat, Vipin Saxena, Anup Pandey, Sandeep Chatterjee, Ashok Mishra, and J.P. Singh.

The day concluded on a warm and pleasant note at Paper Mill Colony. As a cool breeze and mild drizzle swept across the city, host Hamendra Singh Rawat arranged hot tea and samosas for all volunteers and guests, bringing the environmental drive to a delightful close.
