Doctors at Integral Hospital have successfully performed a life-saving cardiac intervention on a two-month-old female infant who was admitted in a critically ill condition with a complex cyanotic congenital heart disease.

The baby had been deeply cyanosed since birth, showing bluish discoloration of the lips, nails, and skin—especially during crying episodes. Her family described a prolonged and distressing struggle to save her life, having consulted several super-specialty hospitals in Lucknow and Delhi, but her condition continued to deteriorate.

On 28 January, the infant was brought to Integral Hospital in a life-threatening state, with oxygen saturation critically low at 23 percent, accompanied by severe lethargy, feeding intolerance, and recurrent vomiting. Following urgent evaluation, the pediatric cardiology team decided to perform an emergency ductal stenting procedure.

The child was diagnosed with Pulmonary Atresia with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF)—a rare and complex congenital heart defect. During the procedure, two ductal stents were placed to restore pulmonary blood flow. The results were dramatic: oxygen saturation improved from 23 percent to 93 percent, and the baby’s skin color changed from deep blue to healthy pink.

After close monitoring and steady recovery in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), the infant was discharged in a stable condition, bringing immense relief and joy to the family. Witnessing the transformation, the baby’s five-year-old elder sister smiled in disbelief and said, “Munni neeli se laal ho gayi.”

Expressing heartfelt gratitude, the child’s father said,
“We had almost lost hope, but the doctors at Integral Hospital gave our child a new life.”

Integral Hospital has recently initiated Pediatric Cardiology Services, offering specialized outpatient consultations and advanced cardiac interventions for children with congenital heart diseases.

Congratulating the medical team, Prof. Syed Waseem Akhtar, Hon’ble Chancellor, Integral University, appreciated the doctors and supporting staff for achieving this significant milestone and reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to strengthening advanced, affordable, and accessible pediatric cardiac care.
