CSIR-CIMAP Celebrates its 66th Foundation Day
Lucknow desk (R L Pandey).CSIR-Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CSIR-CIMAP), Lucknow, celebrated its 66th Foundation Day on 26th March 2025. The Foundation Day ceremony was inaugurated by lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest, Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Chairman, ASRB, New Delhi & Former Director CSIR-IHBT,Palampur(HP), along with Dr. Prabodh Kumar Trivedi, Director, CSIR-CIMAP, Lucknow.

On this occasion, Dr. Prabodh Kumar Trivedi, Director, CSIR-CIMAP, welcomed the guests and the scientists, employees, and researchers present in the auditorium in his welcome speech. He highlighted the six-decade-long journey of the institute, mentioning that CIMAP has been engaged in research and development of medicinal and aromatic plants for nearly six decades. The institute has developed advanced agricultural technologies, improved varieties, and processing techniques for medicinal and aromatic plants, benefiting farmers directly and striving continuously to double their income. He also highlighted the institute's achievements, which have played a crucial role in making India a leading exporter of essential oils from menthol mint and lemongrass. Additionally, he congratulated the scientists and employees for their contributions.

On this occasion, the Chief Guest, Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Chairman, ASRB, New Delhi & Former Director CSIR-IHBT,Palampur(HP) expressed his delight in attending the CSIR-CIMAP Foundation Day celebrations. He acknowledged that the institute has been developing new varieties, advanced agricultural techniques, and processing technologies for medicinal and aromatic plants, directly benefiting farmers and providing high-quality raw materials to the industry. He also urged the research students at the institute to utilize the world-class facilities available and work diligently in their respective fields.

During the ceremony, several significant documents, software, and research-based products were unveiled. The first was the 'Policy Document,' which analyzes the current status of medicinal and aromatic crops in India. The second was the 'Swastham' software, which plays a crucial role in digitizing the CSIR-CIMAP dispensary. The third was the 'PhytoChemX' web server, which provides advanced computational tools and modules for virtual drug discovery and design.

On this occasion, Dr. Samar Abbas, Director, M/s Phlox Laboratories Private Limited, Lucknow, signed a Market Seeding Agreement to market CSIR-CIMAP-developed herbal products such as pain-relieving oil (Relaxomap), herbal floor cleaner (Flomop), aromatic floor cleaner (Clean Germ), and mosquito repellent room spray (MosSpray).

On this occasion, the institute remained open to farmers, students, and the general public. The ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, scientists, employees, and research scholars of the institute. The event was conducted by Dr. Sumya Pathak, and a vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Sanjay Kumar.

During the event, winners of the Wildlife Photography Competition organized by AcSIR researcher scholars were also honored. Around 300 scientists, research students, and institute employees attended the program.
