CSIR-NBRI opens labs to general public, students to commemorate National Technology Day
Lucknow desk (R L Pandey). CSIR-NBRI, Lucknow observed ‘Open Day’ today to commemorate National Technology Day. The laboratories, botanic garden, exposition and other facilities were kept open for the students and general public during the day.


National Technology Day is celebrated across the country to commemorate the 11 May 1998, the day on which India achieved a major technological breakthrough  by successfully carrying out nuclear tests at Pokhran. Also first, indigenous aircraft "Hansa-3" was test flown at Bangalore on this day and India performed successful test firing of the Trishul missile on the same day.


The aim of the celebration is to highlight the achievements of our scientists and engineers in the field of science and technology. It also helps to encourage students towards science and technology field.


This year, more than 1000 students from 15 schools/colleges of Lucknow and nearby districts visited the various labs, plant houses at botanic garden, herbarium, distant research centre, banthra onthe occasion. Scientists and experts of the institute interacted with the visitors/students and informed about the different R&D activities, achievements of the institute.
