Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow awarded Asia Safe Surgical Implant Consortium QIP Award 2024 by WHO Collaborating Centre

This is to announce that Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow, has  been honoured with Asia Safe Surgical Implant Consortium QIP Award 2024 by WHO Collaborating Centre which was awarded in Hospital Infection Control Committee meeting on 17.3.2025 at the Institute.
 
This is to announce that Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow, has  been honoured with Asia Safe Surgical Implant Consortium QIP Award 2024 by WHO Collaborating Centre which was awarded in Hospital Infection Control Committee meeting on 17.3.2025 at the Institute.
Lucknow desk (R L Pandey).Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS) in Lucknow, India, has been honoured with the prestigious Asia Safe Surgical Implant Consortium Quality Improvement Program (QIP) Award 2024 by the World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for its project on “Enhancing Quality & Efficiency in Loaner Instrument Management.” This accolade recognizes RMLIMS's exceptional standards in the reprocessing of surgical instruments and implants. The institute has significant contributions in this field. The program aims to establish and uphold the highest quality standards for reprocessing various implants and loaner sets within the Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD).


Among thirty renowned hospitals across Asia, Dr RML IMS has Qualified in India, being one of the two Government Medical Colleges/Institute in North India participating in the program; reflecting the dedicated efforts of the RMLIMS team in achieving this significant feat. The program's execution in India was significantly supported by 3M India, which played a pivotal role in its implementation.


The award was accepted by the RMLIMS team, led by Director Professor CM Singh;Chairman Hospital Infection Control Committee(HICC), Professor AK Singh,  Chief Medical Superintendent; Professor Jyotsna Agarwal, Member Secretary HICC ;Professor Manodeep Sen, Infection Control Officeer/ Faculty incharge CSSD, Other faculty members of HICC ;Sr Upasana Narula and Sr Pratibha Dubey, Nursing incharge CSSD and members of Infection Control Team . 


The ceremony was graced by the virtual presence of Professor Seto Wing Hong, Co-Director of WHO Collaborating Centre, Hong Kong, along with the 3M India Ltd. team. Our respected Director, Professor CM Singh, extended heartfelt congratulations to the entire team for achieving this prestigious award and conveyed best wishes for their continued excellence.

With RMLIMS performing approximately 1,400 surgeries each month, the need to strengthen sterilization practices and streamline implant processes was a key initiative to improve surgical patient safety. Through the completion of this program, RMLIMS has developed a comprehensive and standardized protocol for the handling, sterilization, and tracking of loaner instruments and implants in the CSSD department. This protocol ensures compliance with safety standards, minimizes infection risks, and enhances operational efficiency.
