DRI Seizes 12.7 kg High-Grade Hydroponic Cannabis at CCS International Airport, Lucknow
Acting on precise intelligence inputs, officers of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Lucknow, intercepted three Indian nationals who arrived at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport, Lucknow, from Thailand on Flight No. FD-146 on 1 December 2025.

A detailed examination of their checked-in luggage led to the discovery of multiple vacuum-sealed packets. The green, lumpy substance found inside these packets tested positive for Cannabis during field testing.

In total, 12.7 kilograms of high-grade Cannabis was seized. The substance is suspected to be Hydroponic Cannabis, a premium variety cultivated without soil using nutrient-rich water in a controlled environment. Hydroponic Cannabis is known for its significantly higher potency and commands a substantial price in the illicit drug market.

The estimated black-market value of the seized contraband is approximately ₹12.7 crore. All three passengers were placed under arrest under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. Further investigation into the case is currently in progress.

This operation forms part of DRI’s continuous crackdown on narcotics smuggling through airports. With this seizure, the total quantity of narcotics confiscated by DRI at CCS International Airport, Lucknow, over the past six months has exceeded 75 kilograms, including multiple consignments of high-grade Cannabis and other prohibited substances.
