Lucknow desk (R L Pandey).Lucknow University takes immense pride in announcing that its Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Professor Alok Kumar Rai, has been nominated as a member of a prestigious committee formed by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, under the chairmanship of Shri Amit Shah (Hon'ble Home and Cooperation Minister). This high-level committee has been constituted to commemorate the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Harekrushna Mahatab.

 Harekrushna Mahatab was the leader of the Indian National Congress, a notable figure in the Indian independence movement and the Chief Minister of Odisha from 1946 to 1950 and again from 1956 to 1961. He was popularly known by the sobriquet "Utkal Keshari".
The committee's responsibilities include planning and overseeing programs celebrating this momentous occasion, as well as providing guidance and supervision to ensure their successful execution.

In addition to this remarkable achievement, Professor Alok Kumar Rai has also been nominated as a member of the General Assembly of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) for a three-year term, starting November 5, 2024. This nomination has been made by the Honorable Minister of Education, Government of India, under the provisions of Rules 3(iv) and 3(viii) of the Association's Regulations.

Under the visionary leadership of Professor Rai, Lucknow University has reached several significant milestones. The university has secured the 97th position in the All India University category, ranked 32nd among state-funded public universities, and achieved an impressive 23rd rank in the law discipline. It is also proud to be the first non-specialist state university in Uttar Pradesh to enter the top 100 universities in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF).

Professor Rai’s leadership has driven the successful implementation of NEP 2020 during session 2020-21 being the first state university in the country, including the launch of the first fourth-year UG batch, credit transfer mechanisms, multiple entry and exit options, and the introduction of the first one-year PG program. Furthermore, Lucknow University has earned the distinction of being the first state university in Uttar Pradesh to achieve NAAC A++ accreditation, secure Category 1 status, and maintain a position in the top 100 NIRF rankings.

These accomplishments highlight the University of Lucknow's continued commitment to academic excellence and innovation under the inspiring guidance of Professor Alok Kumar Rai.
