Lucknow, November 1, 2025:  Integral University, Lucknow, marked Lakshadweep Establishment Day with great enthusiasm and academic zeal on November 1, 2025. Organized by the Office of the Dean of Students’ Welfare (DSW) in collaboration with the Departments of Mass Communication and Languages, the celebration highlighted the archipelago's rich cultural heritage, environmental significance, and national importance.

The event aimed to promote understanding of Lakshadweep—the picturesque archipelago that holds a vital place in India’s maritime identity.

  • Inaugural Address: The formal proceedings began with a welcome by Prof. Monowar Alam Khalid, Dean of Students’ Welfare. Prof. Khalid emphasized the importance of understanding India’s diverse Union Territories and commended the collaborative academic efforts that made the celebration possible.

  • Comprehensive Presentation: Prof. Khalid later delivered an insightful PowerPoint presentation detailing Lakshadweep’s historical evolution, ecological features, cultural life, economy, tourism potential, and developmental initiatives. The visually rich presentation captivated the audience and deepened their appreciation for the islands' strategic importance and natural beauty.

Creative and Scholarly Contributions

The celebration successfully blended creative media with scholarly pursuits

  • Documentary Film: The Department of Mass Communication produced and screened a documentary film. This audio-visual work vividly showcased the islands' marine biodiversity, traditional lifestyle, cuisine, and festivities. It also highlighted the ecological challenges Lakshadweep faces and the university’s academic engagement during the Establishment Week, earning enthusiastic applause for embodying the spirit of "Unity in Diversity."

  • Academic Publication: Adding a scholarly layer, the Department of Languages released a Booklet/Magazine on Lakshadweep. This publication explored the islands’ history, culture, and linguistic richness, serving as an academic souvenir of the occasion and acknowledging the valuable contributions of participating faculty and students.
