Integral University Hosts International Symposium on Chemical Innovation for "Viksit Bharat"
A Global Academic Collaboration
The symposium opened with a formal inaugural session led by Prof. Abdul Rahman Khan, Dean of the Faculty of Science. In his opening remarks, Prof. Khan emphasized the critical role of cross-disciplinary studies in solving modern scientific dilemmas.
Strengthening the international bond, Prof. Farkhod Kh. Rakhimov, Vice-Rector at TICT, joined the conference virtually to advocate for the power of global alliances in driving research. The session also featured motivational addresses by Prof. Wahajul Haq and Prof. Alvina Farooqui, who encouraged the next generation of scholars to strive for academic distinction.
Keynote Insights: From Nature to Medicine
The scientific discourse was set in motion by Prof. Dattatraya H. Dethe from IIT Kanpur. His keynote lecture focused on the biosynthesis of natural molecules and the development of drugs derived from natural products, providing a comprehensive look at how chemistry mimics nature to heal.
Specialized Sessions on Sustainability and Health
The technical segments of the symposium showcased diverse expertise:
-
Phytomedicine: Dr. Karuna Shanker (CSIR-CIMAP) explored the therapeutic potential of plant-based chemicals.
-
Sustainable Agriculture: Prof. Nortoji A. Khujamshukurov (TICT) delivered a virtual masterclass on biopesticide innovations, illustrating how chemical-biological interfaces support eco-friendly farming.
High Engagement and Research Excellence
The event saw a remarkable turnout with over 230 registered delegates, including a significant delegation of 70 participants from Uzbekistan. The research showcase featured nearly 30 E-poster presentations, where students and scholars from both nations displayed cutting-edge findings in chemistry and related sciences.
The symposium wrapped up with a valedictory session where the highest-quality E-posters were honored with awards. Dr. Jamal Akhtar Ansari, the Organizing Secretary, noted that the symposium was a milestone for drug discovery research. He highlighted that integrating India's traditional knowledge, such as Ayurveda and Unani, with modern chemical research is key to achieving the "Viksit Bharat" vision.
