Integral University Hosts Valedictory Function of North-Zone Inter-University Women Volleyball Championship 2025–26

Integral University, Lucknow successfully hosted the valedictory function of the North-Zone Inter-University Women Volleyball Championship 2025–26 on 14 December 2025. The prestigious championship was organised under the auspices of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi. Notably, this was the first time any institution in Uttar Pradesh was entrusted with hosting this elite North-Zone level tournament. More than 40 university teams from across North India participated in the championship.
The Chief Guest, Shri Daya Shankar Ji, Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Transport, Government of Uttar Pradesh, highlighted the vital role of sports in shaping character, resilience, discipline, and teamwork among youth. He especially encouraged young women athletes to pursue excellence and aim for achievements at national and international platforms.
Addressing the gathering, Founder & Hon’ble Chancellor Prof. Syed Waseem Akhtar congratulated all participating teams and lauded the exemplary spirit of sportsmanship displayed throughout the tournament. Madam Chancellor Mrs. Azra Waseem also appreciated the dedication, enthusiasm, and fighting spirit shown by the women players. Dr. Rajesh Kumar Dhaka, Observer, Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi, graced the occasion and commended the smooth organisation of the championship.
The championship witnessed intense competition through knockout and league matches. In the knockout qualifiers held on 13 December (morning), LPU Phagwara, Kurukshetra University, MDU Rohtak, and Chandigarh University Mohali registered emphatic 3–0 victories against their respective opponents.
In the evening league matches, LPU Phagwara defeated Kurukshetra University 3–1, while Chandigarh University Mohali edged past MDU Rohtak in a thrilling 3–2 encounter.
On 14 December, Kurukshetra University defeated MDU Rohtak 3–1, while LPU Phagwara continued their winning momentum by narrowly defeating Chandigarh University Mohali 3–2.
At the conclusion of the championship, LPU Phagwara emerged as the champions, followed by Kurukshetra University, Haryana in second place. Chandigarh University, Mohali secured third position, while MDU Rohtak finished fourth. All four teams have qualified to represent the North Zone in the Inter-Zonal (All India) Inter-University Women’s Volleyball Championship.
The valedictory function was also graced by Prof. Monower Alam Khalid, Dean Students’ Welfare; Prof. Mohd Haris Siddiqu, Registrar; and Prof. Syed Aqeel Ahmad, Director, HRDC.
The championship concluded on a high note, celebrating athletic excellence, discipline, unity, and women empowerment through sports, reaffirming Integral University’s strong commitment to promoting sports culture and holistic development among students.
