Lucknow, September 28, 2026: The Faculty of Architecture, Planning and Design (FoAPD), Integral University, Lucknow, organized a one-day seminar titled “The Ground Beneath: Designing for Longevity and Seismic Survival” on September 28, 2026, at LT003, Phase-3, Integral University.

The seminar featured Er. Anupam Verma, Structural Engineer, Department of Civil Engineering, Kamla Nehru Institute of Technology (KNIT), Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh, as the keynote speaker. The session focused on structural safety, seismic resilience, building durability, and the role of structural engineering in developing safe and sustainable built environments.

Focus on Seismic Safety and Resilient Design

The seminar emphasized the importance of understanding structural systems and integrating seismic considerations into architectural design. Special attention was given to designing buildings that can ensure long-term durability, occupant safety, and resilience against earthquakes.

The session also sought to strengthen students’ understanding of the relationship between architectural planning, structural engineering, and disaster-resilient construction practices. Through practical insights, students and faculty members gained a better understanding of the role of structural design in contemporary architecture and construction.

The seminar provided an academic platform for exploring practical aspects of structural engineering while highlighting the importance of integrating safety, sustainability, durability, and resilience into modern building practices.

Faculty Members Coordinated the Programme

Dr. Uma Prasad Pandey served as the Event Coordinator. The programme was supported by Co-Coordinators Ar. Khurram Ashraf, Ar. Shweta Verma, Ar. Puja Verma, and Ar. Mohammad Salman.

The event was organized under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Saifullah Khan, Head, Department of Architecture, and Prof. (Ar.) Zeba Nisar, Dean, Faculty of Architecture, Planning and Design, Integral University, Lucknow.

The seminar concluded with an emphasis on the need for greater collaboration between architecture and structural engineering to create built environments that are safer, more sustainable, durable, and better prepared to withstand seismic hazards.
