KGMU Launches AMR Awareness Week with Pledge Campaign and Photo Booth
Lucknow desk (R L Pandey).As part of the global World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week (WAAW) 2024, King George’s Medical University (KGMU) has launched a series of awareness activities aimed at combating Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). This year’s theme, “Educate. Advocate. Act now,” emphasizes the urgent need to address the growing threat of AMR.
A Pledge Campaign and AMR-Themed Photo Booth have been set up to engage students, faculty, and the community in spreading awareness. The booths are located at the OPD, Kalam Center, and Trauma Center and will remain open from 18th to 24th November 2024, between 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Pledge Campaign Highlights
Participants are encouraged to take a solemn pledge to use antibiotics responsibly, avoid self-medication, and advocate for better infection prevention practices. The pledge is available in both English and Hindi to ensure accessibility for all.
Photo Booth Highlights:
The interactive photo booth features AMR-themed props, including lab coats, face masks, and antibiotic-themed accessories. Participants are encouraged to share their photos on social media platforms using hashtags like FightAMR, WAAW2024 AMRAwarenessWeek, StopDrugResistance, and KGMUAgainstAMR to amplify the message.
Speaking about the initiative, Prof. Amita Jain, Head of the Department of Microbiology, said, “Through creative activities like these, we aim to make AMR awareness engaging and impactful for everyone at KGMU and beyond.”
KGMU invites all students, faculty, staff and patients to actively participate and join the fight against AMR. Together, we can contribute to safeguarding the efficacy of antibiotics for future generations.
