Landmark Partnership Between Lucknow Police and Medanta Hospital: Equipping Police Personnel to Save Lives in Emergencies
Lucknow (R.L. Pandey Desk) – In a progressive initiative aimed at strengthening public service delivery, the Lucknow Commissionerate of Police has joined hands with Medanta Hospital, Lucknow, through a vital Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

This collaboration, launched under the guidance of the Honourable Police Commissioner of Lucknow, marks a significant step toward enhancing emergency medical response by police personnel.

Empowering Police with Life-Saving Skills
Through this partnership, selected members of the Lucknow Police have received hands-on training in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Basic Life Support (BLS). These crucial skills are designed to prepare them to act swiftly and effectively in life-threatening emergencies, such as cardiac arrests.
Training Highlights
Comprehensive Skill Development: Police officers were trained in vital emergency procedures including CPR, blood pressure and oxygen level monitoring, and BLS protocols.
Health Screening Camp: Alongside the training, Medanta conducted a free health check-up camp covering blood pressure, pulse, body temperature, and oxygen saturation (SpO2) for over 200 officers.
Expert-led Workshops: Interactive sessions and practical demonstrations were carried out by medical professionals from Medanta Hospital, ensuring quality and hands-on learning.
Objective and Impact
The primary goal of this initiative is to enable police officers to act effectively during the “Golden Hour”—the first 60 minutes following a medical emergency, where timely intervention can significantly improve survival rates.
By equipping officers with CPR and emergency medical training, the program aims to:
Enhance immediate on-site response during emergencies.
Bridge the gap between medical aid and the arrival of paramedics.
Empower police as first responders capable of saving lives.
A Holistic Social Approach
This initiative serves as a model of collaborative public health engagement, offering multi-dimensional benefits:
Citizen-Police-Medical Synergy: Encourages a stronger connection between the community, law enforcement, and healthcare services.
Combatting Cardiac Arrest: With over 1.7 lakh annual cardiac arrest cases in India, trained police personnel can become pivotal in reducing fatalities.
Public Trust: It fosters greater confidence and trust between citizens and law enforcement.
Future Roadmap
All police personnel across the 58 stations within the Lucknow Commissionerate will be gradually trained in emergency response.
Medanta will continue to offer regular training, learning materials, and refresher courses.
Digital learning platforms will support ongoing skill development and knowledge updates.
