Integral University, Lucknow to Host North-Zone Women’s Volleyball Championship 2025–26
Lucknow, 10 December 2025:Integral University, Lucknow has been chosen to host the North-Zone Inter-University Women’s Volleyball Championship 2025–26, an event being organised under the banner of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi. This marks a historic moment, as it is the first time any university in Uttar Pradesh has been granted the privilege of hosting this prestigious tournament.

 

The opening ceremony took place on 10 December 2025 at the university campus, where top women volleyball players from across North India gathered to kick off the five-day competition. More than 40 universities from the northern region are participating in the event, scheduled from 10–14 December 2025.

Inaugural Ceremony Highlights

 

The event was presided over by Prof. Syed Waseem Akhtar, Hon’ble Chancellor and Founder, who formally inaugurated the championship and extended his best wishes to all participating teams. The ceremony featured Shri Ranvir Singh, Arjuna Awardee and former captain of the Indian Volleyball Team, as the Chief Guest.

 

Registrar Prof. Mohammed Haris Siddiqui welcomed all dignitaries, guests, and players.

Day 1: Intense Competition and Dominant Wins

 

A total of 11 matches were played on the opening day, with several teams delivering strong and dominant performances. Key results included:

  • Bundelkhand University, Jhansi defeated Integral University 3–0

  • Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut beat Dr. RML Avadh University, Ayodhya 3–0

  • Govind Ballabh Pant University, Pantnagar overpowered Chandigarh University, Mohali 3–0

  • Chaudhary Bansi Lal University, Bhiwani registered a 3–0 victory over Sri Dev Suman Uttarakhand University, Tehri Garhwal

  • Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur defeated Veer Madho Singh Bhandari Uttarakhand Technical University, Dehradun 3–0

  • BPS Mahila Vishwavidyalaya, Sonipat won 3–1 against Aligarh Muslim University

  • Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar University, Agra secured a 3–0 win over Indira Gandhi University, Rewari

  • The Maharaja Bhupinder Singh Punjab Sports University, Patiala clinched a 3–0 victory against Graphic Era (Deemed University), Dehradun

  • Sardar Patel University, Mandi triumphed 3–0 over Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi

  • In the final match of the day, Uttarakhand University, Dehradun convincingly defeated Professor Rajendra Singh (Rajju Bhaiya) University.
