Medanta Launches ‘Har Ghar, Har Society Surakshit’ to Build Emergency-Ready Residential Communities
- Programme combines first-aid, ‘Suraksha Champions’ and regular drills to strengthen response during the critical minutes of an emergency before professional help arrives
Formally inaugurated at Multi-Purpose Hall, Tower-A, Shalimar OneWorld Vista, Lucknow on October 4, 2026, the programme embodies the Medanta ethos of ‘Har Ek Jaan Anmol’, meaning ‘Every Life Is Invaluable’. It offers first aid training and on site First Aid Zones to make homes and common areas safer during medical emergencies. The model is designed to be scaled across multiple residential societies in Lucknow, and will also be amplified to other parts of the country.
Dr. Rakesh Kapoor, Medical Director, Medanta Lucknow said, “Emergency preparedness is most effective when it becomes part of everyday life. Through ‘Har Ghar, Har Society Surakshit’, we are working hand in hand with communities, RWAs and facility teams to build a scalable model of training, infrastructure and mock drills. We want every participating society to function as a first response ready micro ecosystem, where prevention and timely action become shared responsibilities.”
The programme will also establish Emergency First Aid Hubs equipped with first-aid supplies, supported by information posters across high-risk areas such as swimming pools, gyms and play areas. A key component will be the creation of ‘Suraksha Champions’, with security, housekeeping and facility staff trained as first responders in emergencies, basic life support, CPR, drowning, gym-related injuries, fire management, and animal bites and stings.
During the launch on Sunday, health experts from Medanta took residents and community staff through The Suraksha Zone, an interactive activation offering hands-on CPR training, first aid in cases of animal bites and stings, drowning rescue protocols, fire extinguisher demonstrations and dehydration-management sessions. Participating families received Medanta Safe Home Guidelines, Medanta Emergency Pocket Booklets and Medanta First-Aid Kits, along with hands-on training in essential skills such as CPR.
Dr. Mahim Mittal, Director, Internal Medicine at Medanta Lucknow said, “Healthcare should not begin only when a patient reaches the Hospital. In emergencies like cardiac arrest, drowning or severe bleeding, the first few minutes decide outcomes. With ‘Har Ghar, Har Society Surakshit’, we are moving emergency preparedness out of the hospital and into homes and societies, so that residents and staff can act confidently in those critical minutes before an ambulance arrives. Our goal is to make every participating society in Lucknow a first‑response‑ready community.”
To sustain preparedness, the initiative will include weekly WhatsApp micro-reminders, monthly refresher training and quarterly drills, along with recognition of ‘Society Heroes’. Because at Medanta, caring for people goes beyond treating them at the hospital. It also means taking responsibility for the health, safety and well-being of the community around us.
