A $95 Million Hub for Innovation Equinix has committed an initial investment of approximately $95 million to establish this state-of-the-art facility. MB3 opens with an initial capacity of 1,370 cabinets, with a long-term roadmap to expand the infrastructure to more than 5,400 cabinets. The facility is engineered to handle the world’s most demanding workloads through: AI-Specific Design: Tailored for machine learning and data-heavy applications. Advanced Cooling: Utilizing liquid cooling and high-density systems for peak efficiency. Green Energy: Operating on 100% renewable power, ensuring that Mumbai’s digital growth remains environmentally sustainable. The Data Capital of India Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis praised the development, noting that Maharashtra currently holds nearly 60% of India’s total data center capacity. He emphasized that the introduction of AI-enabled infrastructure like MB3 is a strategic boost that will solidify Mumbai's reputation as a premier global digital hub. Leadership Perspectives Cyrus Adaggra, President of Asia-Pacific at Equinix, highlighted India’s central role in the regional tech economy, stating that the country is now a driving force in defining the digital future of the Asia-Pacific. Furthering this sentiment, Manoj Paul, Managing Director of Equinix India, stressed the necessity of connectivity in the modern era. He noted that as enterprises shift toward hybrid multicloud strategies and massive AI deployment, a "strong and interconnected infrastructure" is no longer optional—it is the essential backbone for any scalable innovation. Prime Location: Chandivali, Powai Strategically situated in the Chandivali (Powai) area, MB3 is perfectly positioned to serve Mumbai’s thriving ecosystem of finance, tech, and retail giants. By combining high-performance computing with sustainable practices, Equinix is setting a new standard for responsible digital expansion in India.
