NBRI-EIACP Programme Centre of MoEF&CC celebrated World Environment Day in a big way
Uttar Pradesh desk Lucknow (R L Pandey)National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI) - Environmental Information, Awareness, Capacity Building and Livelihood Program Center (EIACP) at CSIR-NBRI hosted the World Environment Day 2024 celebration in collaboration with CSIR-Jigyasa, NCC Navyug Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Integral University, and Prithvi Innovations at NBRI, Lucknow on June 5th 2024.


On the global theme of "Land restoration, Desertification and Drought Resilience", the event activities were majorly focused on the importance of protecting and restoring land resources.  Dr. Anju Patel, Scientist & Co-coordinator of the Programme Centre, Major (Dr.) Manmeet Kaur Sodhi, Navyug Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Lucknow and Ms. Anuradha Gupta from Prithvi Innovation led interactive group activities on Mission LiFE of Govt.

of India to encourage individual actions for sustainability on seven themes. A Panel Discussion with eminent experts Dr. A. K. Shasany, Director, CSIR-NBRI; Shri D. K. Soni, Regional Director, CPCB; Dr. M.A. Khalid, Dean, Integral University; Ms. Anuradha Gupta, Prithvi Innovations made deliberations on policy actions vis-à-vis R&D interventions for mitigating climate change and land degradation. Restoration of degraded land and combating desertification were discussed in detail with the scope of individual actions. Participants also took a pledge for their commitment to Mission LiFE and provided them with plant saplings under the "Vriksh Parigrah" initiative, symbolizing their duty to nurture the environment. Around 100 participants from 12 different institutions degree colleges, universities, NGOs and GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals actively participated in the event.
