Lucknow: SKD New Standard Coaching Institute has released its expert analysis of the NEET 2026 examination, describing this year’s paper as moderate overall, with Physics emerging as the most challenging section.
According to the institute, the Biology section remained balanced and scoring. Botany included 50 questions instead of the usual 45, while Zoology comprised 40 questions. Students with strong NCERT-based preparation are expected to have gained a significant advantage in this section.
The Chemistry section was of moderate difficulty, although a few questions from Physical Chemistry were considered above average. Physics, however, proved slightly tougher, featuring around 10 challenging questions from Rotational Motion, Magnetism, and Modern Physics, along with lengthy calculations that tested both accuracy and time management.
Based on the preliminary analysis, the expected cut-off for General Category candidates seeking government MBBS seats may reach approximately 630 marks out of 720, significantly higher than last year’s estimated cut-off of around 540 marks.
The institute further noted that India currently has nearly 1,30,000 MBBS seats, including around 60,000 government seats. In Uttar Pradesh alone, there are approximately 12,500 MBBS seats, of which nearly 5,400 are government seats.
Manish Singh, Director of SKD Group of Education, said:
“This year’s paper was well-balanced, and students with strong NCERT preparation had a clear advantage. The Physics section tested both conceptual clarity and time management. Consistent practice and the right strategy remain the key to success in NEET.”
