Over 300 children from 7 schools participated at the 12th Edition of Model United Nations hosted by Study Hall
This annual event brought together students from various prestigious schools to engage in thought-provoking discussions and find solutions to pressing global issues. Over 300 children from 7 prestigious schools of Lucknow such as La Martiniere Girls' College, La Martiniere College, CMS Gomti Nagar, Vibgyor School, CMS Mahanagar, and M.R. Jaipuria participated in the event. With the theme “Back to the Past,” this year’s conference offered participants the unique opportunity to revisit historical events and rewrite history with fresh perspectives.
As delegates took on roles of global leaders, parliamentarians, and key historical figures, they were tasked with navigating complex agendas, understanding global dynamics, and building consensus. The conference served as an invaluable exercise in critical thinking, diplomacy, and problem-solving—skills essential for navigating today’s interconnected world.
The opening ceremony set a solemn tone, followed by vibrant cultural performances. Schools such as La Martiniere Girls' College, La Martiniere College, CMS Gomti Nagar, Vibgyor School, CMS Mahanagar, and M.R. Jaipuria, among others, participated with great enthusiasm. Secretary General Kriday Sachdeva declared the conference open, inviting delegates to dive into discussions across various committees.
The 2024 edition introduced several new committees, including the Congress of Vienna, Officer Corps of Bismarck, Rajya Sabha, South African Parliament, United Nations Human Rights Council, and the International Press Committee. These committees, each focused on a well-researched agenda, encouraged participants to delve into historical and contemporary issues, exploring the factors that shaped today’s global order.
Model UN conferences like this not only allow students to simulate real-world diplomacy but also provide a platform for them to engage in meaningful dialogue, hone their research skills, and think critically about the challenges that impact societies worldwide. By assuming the roles of delegates and diplomats, students actively learn about the importance of negotiation, consensus-building, and the complexities of international relations.
Through intensive debate and collaboration, students come to understand the nuanced interplay between history, politics, and governance, and they are empowered to propose innovative solutions to challenges that transcend borders. This educational experience helps foster the next generation of leaders, equipping them with the tools to address the global challenges of tomorrow.
