Phoenix Palassio Celebrates International Chess Day with Srinivasa Ramanujan Trophy 2026

Lucknow, July 22, 2026: On the occasion of International Chess Day, Phoenix Palassio, Lucknow, in collaboration with the UP Chess Sports Association and the Lucknow Chess Association, successfully hosted the Srinivasa Ramanujan Trophy – International Chess Day Blitz Tournament 2026. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from chess players across multiple age groups, who showcased exceptional strategy, concentration, and sportsmanship.

The tournament was graced by distinguished guests, including Mr. Vinay Shahane, GM Marketing, Phoenix Palassio; Mr. A. K. Raizada, Honorary General Secretary, UP Chess Sports Association; and Mr. Rajesh Kumar Shahi, President, Lucknow Chess Association.

Blitz Format and Swiss System Matches

The competition was held in the Blitz format, with each player allotted 3 minutes plus a 2-second increment per move. Organized under the Swiss System, the tournament featured several thrilling matches that highlighted tactical brilliance and quick decision-making. The initiative aimed to promote chess, encourage young minds, and provide a prestigious platform for emerging talent.

Winners securing the top three positions in each category were honored with trophies and exclusive gift hampers.
