Lucknow, December 25, 2025:  Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today inaugurated the Rashtra Prerna Sthal in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, dedicated to the life and ideals of former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee, on the occasion of his 101st birth anniversary.

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said that the land of Lucknow is witnessing a new source of national inspiration. He extended Christmas greetings to the people of India and the world, noting that millions of Christian families in India are celebrating the festival, which symbolises joy and goodwill for all.


Tribute to National Icons

Prime Minister Modi highlighted that December 25 also marks the birth anniversaries of Bharat Ratna Mahamana Madan Mohan Malaviya and Maharaja Bijli Pasi, who made lasting contributions to India’s identity, unity, governance and inclusiveness. He recalled that it was Atal Bihari Vajpayee who, in the year 2000, released a postage stamp in honour of Maharaja Bijli Pasi.


A Monument of National Inspiration

The Prime Minister said that Rashtra Prerna Sthal symbolises the vision that guided India towards self-respect, unity and service. He noted that the towering statues of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya and Atal Bihari Vajpayee stand as enduring sources of inspiration for nation-building.

He congratulated the people of Lucknow and Uttar Pradesh, noting that the site—once spread over 30 acres of garbage—has been transformed into a modern national memorial within three years. He appreciated the efforts of workers, planners and artisans, and lauded Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and his team.

Article 370 and National Unity

Recalling Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee’s firm stand against “two Constitutions, two flags and two Prime Ministers,” the Prime Minister said that the removal of Article 370 ensured the full implementation of the Indian Constitution in Jammu and Kashmir, strengthening national unity.

Self-Reliance and Industrial Growth

Prime Minister Modi highlighted that Dr. Mookerjee laid the foundation of economic self-reliance as independent India’s first Industry Minister. He said that today, Made in India products are reaching global markets.

Referring to Uttar Pradesh, he said that the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative has strengthened small industries, while the Defence Corridor is emerging as a global manufacturing hub. He noted that the BrahMos missile is now manufactured in Lucknow, adding that UP’s defence corridor will soon gain global recognition.

Antyodaya Through Saturation

The Prime Minister said that Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s vision of Antyodaya has been given a new dimension through saturation, ensuring that every eligible beneficiary receives government welfare without discrimination. He described this as true good governance, social justice and secularism. He noted that millions of citizens are receiving pucca houses, toilets, tap water, electricity, gas connections, free ration and free medical treatment for the first time.

Poverty Reduction and Social Security

Prime Minister Modi stated that crores of Indians have moved out of poverty in the last decade. Social security coverage has expanded from 25 crore people before 2014 to nearly 95 crore today. He highlighted insurance schemes like Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, which have provided claims worth nearly ₹25,000 crore to poor families.

Legacy of Good Governance

Recalling Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s contribution to governance, the Prime Minister said that Atal ji laid the foundation for digital identity (Aadhaar), telecom revolution, Golden Quadrilateral highways, rural roads, and metro connectivity.He noted that India is now the second-largest mobile phone manufacturer, with Uttar Pradesh as the number one mobile manufacturing state.

Honouring Every National Hero

Prime Minister Modi emphasised that the country has moved beyond family-centric politics and is now honouring every national hero. He cited examples including Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Birsa Munda, Maharaja Suheldev, and many others.

Uttar Pradesh’s New Identity

The Prime Minister said that Uttar Pradesh, once known for poor law and order, is now being recognised for development, tourism and modern infrastructure. Landmarks like the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, Kashi Vishwanath Dham, and Rashtra Prerna Sthal reflect the state’s transformed image.

Developed at a cost of approximately ₹230 crore over 65 acres, the complex features:

  • 65-foot-high bronze statues of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya and Atal Bihari Vajpayee

  • A lotus-shaped, state-of-the-art museum spread over 98,000 sq. ft., showcasing India’s national journey through immersive digital technologies

The Rashtra Prerna Sthal is envisioned as a permanent national asset dedicated to leadership values, national service and good governance.

Governor of Uttar Pradesh Smt. Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath, Union Ministers Shri Rajnath Singh and Shri Pankaj Chaudhary, among others, were present at the event.
