Sanjeevani – The Herbal Garden Inaugurated at Department of Botany, University of Lucknow April 16, 2025

The Sanjeevani - The Herbal Garden has been developed under the esteemed patronage of the Honourable Vice Chancellor and the able guidance of Prof. Gauri Saxena, Head, Department of Botany. The initiative aims to promote awareness, education, and research in medicinal and aromatic plants, contributing to sustainable practices and conservation efforts.
This green endeavour was made possible with the valuable support of CSIR-CIMAP (Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants), Lucknow. The garden has a collection of important and rare medicinal and aromatic plants such as, Kalmegh, Vidhara, Nagdawna, Hadjod, Stevia, Shadab, Sarpagandha, Mulethi, Shalparni and seven varieties of Tulsi; Kapur tulsi, Pan tusli, Van tulsi, Shishir are few of them,
Speaking at the event, Honourable Vice Chancellor, emphasized the importance of such initiatives in preserving traditional knowledge systems and integrating them with modern scientific approaches. Prof. Gauri Saxena expressed her gratitude to Honourable Vice Chancellor, Prof. Alok Kumar Rai, Director, CSIR-CIMAP, Dr. Prabodh Kumar Trivedi and his Team, Dean, Faculty of Science, Prof. Sheela Mishra, Superintendent, Ground and Garden, University of Lucknow, Prof. S.N. Pandey, faculty members and entire Garden and Office Staff. She also reaffirmed the department's vision to make the garden a hub for learning and innovation.
