Lucknow:  Demonstrating that the spirit of nation-building never retires, a grand felicitation ceremony was organized on June 4 at the Surya Command Institute in Lucknow. The event recognized and honoured a select group of military veterans for their outstanding and selfless social service, highlighting the enduring commitment of ex-servicemen towards shaping a better society.

The proud and inspiring occasion was graced by the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Upendra Dwivedi (PVSM, AVSM), alongside Lieutenant General Anindya Sengupta (PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, YSM), GOC-in-C of the Central Command. The ceremony was attended by serving officers of the Headquarters Central Command (HQCC), a large gathering of veterans, and families.

Lauding Selfless Contributions Beyond the Battlefield

While presenting mementos and Commendation Cards to the awardees, General Upendra Dwivedi highly praised the invaluable contributions of the veterans. He noted that these individuals continue to serve the country with the same zeal long after hanging up their uniforms.

87-Year-Old War Veteran Col MM Ghosh Among Honourees

Among the five esteemed recipients of the Army Chief’s appreciation letter and memento was senior veteran Colonel M.M. Ghosh (87), a resident of the Tyagi Vihar AWHO Colony.

A true embodiment of resilience, Col Ghosh is a veteran of both the 1965 and 1971 wars. His lifelong dedication to the country—first on the frontlines and now through social welfare—drew immense admiration from the entire gathering.
