Lucknow:  Astha Rai, a student of the DOSTI program at Study Hall School, has been awarded the Rajya Stareeya Prerana Stotra by the Government of Uttar Pradesh. The award was presented by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, recognizing not only Astha’s determination and growth but also the transformative impact of a school that truly embraces inclusive education.

Astha’s learning journey began during one of the most challenging periods for students across the country—the shift to online education. Living in Azamgarh at the time, she struggled to engage through virtual classes, much like many children with special needs nationwide. During this period, the DOSTI team demonstrated what real inclusion looks like. They adapted their teaching, introduced new strategies, and supported every child consistently and compassionately.

With structured support, Astha gradually gained confidence in her studies. Observing her progress, her mother made a pivotal decision: she relocated from Azamgarh to Lucknow so Astha could continue her learning at DOSTI under the guidance of Ms. Tarannum N. Khan and her dedicated team. This decision marked a significant turning point in Astha’s life.

At DOSTI, Astha received an environment built on understanding, acceptance, and encouragement—where her strengths were valued above her challenges. Special educators, sports instructors, and co-curricular mentors collaborated to create a customized routine that enabled her to flourish. Subjects that once felt overwhelming became areas of success. Activities like sports and dance, which she initially hesitated to attempt, grew into her strongest assets. Her teachers identified her potential early and supported her with individualized learning materials, patient mentoring, and emotional reassurance.

Astha’s selection to represent the Uttar Pradesh zone at the National Youth Leadership Summit 2025 speaks volumes about her remarkable progress and the effectiveness of inclusive education when implemented with commitment and care.
The foundation of her success lies in DOSTI’s 20-year legacy of inclusion. Established at a time when accessible education for children with disabilities was scarce in Uttar Pradesh, DOSTI has evolved into a holistic program emphasizing parental involvement, caregiver support, vocational readiness, integration with mainstream classrooms, and collaborative learning among students of varying abilities. Its ethos—built on dignity, equity, and meaningful inclusion—has shaped the lives of hundreds of children.
Astha’s journey stands as a compelling reminder that when schools commit to inclusion not just in theory but in everyday practice, children don’t merely improve—they truly thrive. Her story is a testament to what becomes possible when young learners are given the right environment, the right support, and the unwavering belief that they can succeed.
