Swachhata Pakhwada 2025 Concludes at CSIR-NBRI

The closing ceremony was held on 15 May 2025 at CSIR-NBRI, graced by Mrs. Ritu Suhas, IAS, Special Secretary, Urban Development Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh, as the Chief Guest.
While welcoming the chief guest, Dr. AK Shasany, Director expressed his gratitude to all participants and highlighted the institute’s ongoing commitment to the Swachh Bharat Mission through research, education, and outreach programs. Dr. Shasany reiterates dedication of the institute to fostering a cleaner and healthier environment through innovation, collaboration, and community engagement.
In her address, Mrs. Suhas emphasized the importance of behavioural change and community involvement in realizing the vision of a clean and green India. She lauded CSIR-NBRI’s initiatives in integrating scientific research with societal impact, particularly in the realm of environmental cleanliness and plant-based solutions. Mrs. Suhas informed that urban development department of Uttar Pradesh Government in association with CSIR-NBRI is working on waste disposal & its management through NBRI’s biodegradable techniques. We are also preparing urban heat islands of the Lucknow city to tackle excessive heat seasons through appropriate plantation strategy.
Over the course of the Pakhwada, several activities were undertaken including cleanliness drives, awareness campaigns, plantation activities, and workshops on sustainable waste management. Employees, research scholars, school students, and local residents actively participated, reflecting the spirit of collective responsibility and civic duty. The event concluded with a felicitation of winners of Painting & Essay Competition organized for wards of the CSIR-NBRI Staff during the swachhata pakhwada.
