The Uttar Pradesh Police Budget

Fulfilling the vision of Hon’ble Chief Minister, the budget includes a ₹200 crore corpus fund for the maintenance of over 200 multi-story police residential and office buildings, including provisions for lifts, generators, STP, and WTP. This landmark decision reflects the Hon’ble Chief Minister’s swift decision-making ability. The innovative and exemplary model for maintaining high-rise police infrastructure will set a precedent for the entire nation.
Prioritizing police welfare, this budget fulfills all key announcements made by the Hon’ble Chief Minister on Police Commemoration Day, including uniform allowance, separation allowance, corpus fund provisions, and rectification of discrepancies in benefits for martyred personnel. Additionally, a remarkable 1428% increase in the sports fund will enhance physical fitness and competitive spirit among police personnel.
Considering new recruitments, the establishment budget has been increased by 55% compared to 2017, and travel allowances have seen a 255% increase, with ₹1,000 crore allocated for the same, providing much-needed relief to police personnel.
Excellence in training remains a top priority. To facilitate the simultaneous nine-month training of over 60,000 new police recruits, the training budget has been increased by 190% compared to 2017. This will enhance training infrastructure and ensure better resources for instructors.
Strengthening operational efficiency, mobility provisions for the police force have seen an unprecedented 270% increase in budget allocation compared to 2017. Additionally, accepting police recommendations the budget for materials and supplies has been increased by a historic 12,519%, streamlining procurement processes. This will facilitate the acquisition of bulletproof jackets, bulletproof helmets, and anti-riot gear—a pioneering initiative likely implemented for the first time in India by Uttar Pradesh. This step will further enhance the professional efficiency of UP Police.
In a first-of-its-kind initiative, the police department has been allocated a dedicated budget for solar energy adoption. Additionally, police units are adopting RESCO model tariff purchase agreements, widely practiced in various sectors, to promote green and clean energy within the police force.
The trust placed in the police department through this budget strengthens our unwavering commitment. Uttar Pradesh Police will not only live up to the trust of the state's citizens but also contribute to the state's aspirations in infrastructure, green energy, and tourism transformation.
