Uttar Pradesh desk Lucknow (R L Pandey).On the fifth day of workshop i.e. 27th May 2024, under the leadership of Dr. Archana Shukla, Head, Department of Psychology had two speakers which were being introduced by Dr. Hansika Singhal, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology, University of Lucknow.   The speaker for the first session was Dr. Durgesh Kumar Upadhyay, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology, Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, Varanasi. His topic for the workshop was “Qualitative Research:

Grounded Theory”. He began his lecture with the history of Grounded Theory. He also elucidated the process of coding by Strauss and Corbin, and the grounded theory process by Charmaz with a pictorial representation. Stages and respective purposes of coding, types of coding, memoing were also discussed in the lecture. Further, he talked about the advantages and disadvantages of Grounded Theory in research. He ended the session with some multiple-choice questions for the students to assess their understanding, subsequently clearing their doubts as well.


The second session of the workshop was by Dr. Kirti Madnani, Assistant Professor, Government Degree College, Gosaikheda, Unnao. She took the session on “Regression Analysis”. Dr. Kirti commenced the lecture by introducing the basic concepts of regression analysis, a statistical method that explores how variables interact. She then highlighted its importance, stating, “Regression analysis is fundamental in predicting outcomes and identifying the strength of relationships between variables.” In her lecture, she covered several types of regression analysis and also exemplified the practical applications of regression analysis in psychological research.

Case studies were also presented to demonstrate how regression models can predict behavioural outcomes. At the end of the session, various questions asked in previous years' UGC NET examinations were also taken up. At the end of both the sessions, the speakers were honoured with a Certificate of Appreciation and a vote of thanks was extended to them by Dr. Megha Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology, University of Lucknow.
