Uttar Pradesh desk Lucknow ( R L Pandey). The vibrant and enchanting world of folklore came alive this weekend as young performers from our community took to the stage in a unique workshop-based theatre production held at International Baudh Shodh Sansthan, on 25th May 2024. The event showcased a captivating selection of folktales from Denmark,Estonia, and Africa, delighting an audience of all ages.

The production, featuring children aged 7-12 years, was the culmination of an intensive workshop that fostered creativity, teamwork, and imagination.
Each folktale was brought to life with youthful enthusiasm and remarkable talent, offering a fresh and engaging interpretation of these timeless stories.

The evening commenced with an Estonian folktale- ‘Stone Soup’ that enchanted with it’s rich tapestry of folklore and tradition. The second performance took the audience on a vibrant journey through an African folktale- ‘Temba ki kahani’.
The final performance ended with a Danish folktale‘Emperor’s New Clothes’ which transported the audience to a land of comical fiction that highlighted themes of deception and the courage to speak the truth.

We were honored to have Mrs. Renuka Tandon as our esteemed Chief Guest. Her presence was a source of inspiration for the young performers, and her words of encouragement underscored the importance of cultural exchange and artistic expression.

This grand show was not possible without the hard work and dedication of the very talented Abhiehsk Singh, Director of the workshop, Apurva Shah, workshop designer and Kriti Srivastava, assistant Director of the workshop.
The founder of DoReMi Club, Saahiba Tulsi, welcomed the audience enthusiastically and hoped that the hard-work put in by the children would come to light on this day.
The event was a true community effort, supported by parents, educators, and local artists, all of whom contributed to its success.

Kulsoom Khan, Team Leader of DoReMi Club added,
The workshop not only honed the children's acting skills but also provided them with a deeper understanding and importance of body language and improvisation.

Ritika Kaur, Founder of DoReMi Club felt that
the children have worked alot on enhancing their individual qualities through vast and intensive physical, vocal and psychological exercises.
We have tried to bring up topics like unity, team work, collaborations and communication in a theatrical manner as we strongly believe in it.

As the final curtain fell, the applause echoed the sentiments of a thoroughly entertained and impressed audience. This celebration of folktales from around the world  brought about artistic expression through this workshop.
