University of Lucknow celebrated the 75 th Constitution Day with full fervour and gaiety
The programme was presided over by Prof. Alok Kumar Rai, the Hon'ble Vice Chancellor of the University of Lucknow. In his address, Sri Mahana ji spoke about the significance of the Constitution and the great contributions of the Constitutional farmers.
He informed the audience about the role of Speaker in upholding the Constitution, and in sensitising and inculcating the Constitutional values among the law makers. He emphasized how he has worked hard to promote integrity and cleanliness in the work culture and ethos of the members of the legislative assembly. Giving a strong message to the fourth pillar of the State- the press and the media, called upon them for adopting a more positive and optimistic attitude towards the political system and its functionaries, saying negative and unwarranted reporting by media does more harm than anything else. The Speaker also apprised how more and more well educated persons are entering the domain of politics.
Giving statistics of the numbers of professionals, such as Ph.Ds, doctors and management degree holders as MLAs in the current Assembly, he underlined that the face of the politics is rapidly changing with the electorate becoming wiser and development becoming the buzz word of politics. Giving thanks to Sri Mahana ji for his visit, Prof. Alok Kumar Rai, the Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, informed how the University has been growing from strength to strength as a result of the efforts and initiatives initiated by him.
He emphasized his administration's commitment to the student-centric and student-friendly approach and in building a conducive atmosphere for academics in the campus. The VC apprised Sri Mahana ji that Lucknow University has become the first University of the country in implementing the New Educational Policy-2020. The impressive national and international rankings of this University, he noted, reflects the growing stature of this University.
Prof. Sanjay Gupta, Head of the Department, extended his thanks and gratitude to the Hon'ble Sri Mahana ji and Hon'ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Alok Kumar Rai for gracing the occasion and blessing the students. Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Manuka Khanna, Prof. VK Sharma, Dean Students Welfare, Prof. Durgesh Srivatsava, Deans and Heads of various Departments were present on this occasion. Earlier floral tributes were paid by Sri Mahana ji and Vice Chancellor at the statute of Dr. Ambedkar and at Samvidhan Sthal. The programme was attended by large number of faculty members, students and researchers. The programme concluded with the National Anthem.
