University of Lucknow Hosts Workshop on “MOOCs: Transforming Education for the Digital Age”
The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of the University of Lucknow, Prof. Alok Kumar Rai, inaugurated the workshop. In his address, Prof. Rai underscored the university's initiative to develop MOOCs and highlighted its vision to lead in the realm of digital learning. Dr. Arunabha Mukhopadhyay, Professor of Information Technology & Systems at the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (IIM Lucknow), served as the Guest of Honour. His presentation offered participants a comprehensive understanding of leveraging technology to enhance teaching and learning experiences.
The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Puneet Mishra, Head of the Department of Computer Science, with Dr. Kiran Lata Dangwal serving as the Convenor and Chairperson of the Committee to Facilitate SWAYAM/MOOC. The Organizing Committee included Dr. Pravesh Prakash, Dr. Shambhavi Mishra, Dr. Bhawna, Dr. Rishi Kant, and Dr. S. P. Kannojia—deans, directors, heads, and coordinators of various faculties within the University of Lucknow. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Pravesh Prakash.
Featuring interactive sessions, hands-on demonstrations, and discussions led by experts in online education, the workshop guided participants through the process of designing, developing, and delivering MOOCs. It emphasized best practices in content creation and strategies for engaging learners, while also providing a platform for faculty members to discuss challenges and share their experiences in integrating digital tools into their teaching methodologies. This workshop marked a significant step towards fulfilling the University of Lucknow’s mission of leveraging digital tools to make quality education accessible to a broader audience.
