UP Govt Bureaucrats & SBI Lucknow Play Friendly Cricket on UP Diwas 2026

Lucknow, 25 January 2026:  As part of the Uttar Pradesh Diwas 2026 celebrations, observed from 24 to 26 January under the theme “Viksit Bharat – Viksit Uttar Pradesh,” a friendly T20 cricket match was organized on 25 January 2026 at the Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. The match was played between Chief Secretary XI (CS XI) and SBI XI.

The occasion was graced by Shri Shashi Prakash Goyal, Chief Secretary, Government of Uttar Pradesh, who conducted the toss along with Shri Dipak Kumar De, Chief General Manager, SBI Lucknow Circle. Shri Goyal also presented the winners’ trophy and individual awards. He appreciated the State Bank of India for organizing the event on UP Diwas and remarked that such initiatives foster unity, sportsmanship, and positive engagement, contributing meaningfully to the vision of Viksit Bharat – Viksit Uttar Pradesh. He also acknowledged SBI’s significant role in the development of the State.

Winning the toss, CS XI opted to bat first and posted a competitive total of 152 runs in the allotted 20 overs. In response, SBI XI put up a spirited performance but fell short, scoring 148 runs in 20 overs. CS XI emerged victorious by 4 runs in a closely contested match.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Partha Sarthi Sen Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary, said,

“Both teams played the match with great enthusiasm and true sportsman spirit. I thank SBI for their active participation and look forward to continued collaboration in such initiatives in the future.”

Shri Dipak Kumar De, CGM, SBI Lucknow Circle, expressed gratitude to the State Government for providing the opportunity to be part of the UP Diwas celebrations. He noted that such sporting events promote physical fitness, positive engagement, and strengthen institutional bonds, thereby contributing to the broader vision of Viksit Bharat.

The match was attended by several senior officials, including Shri Navneet Sehgal (Retd. Additional Chief Secretary), Shri Anurag Yadav (Principal Secretary), Shri Pankaj Yadav (Secretary), Shri Dhirendra Singh Sachan (Special Secretary), Shri Anil Kumar, GM (Network-I), SBI, Shri Rajeev Kumar, GM (Network-II), SBI, and Shri Kaushalendra Kumar, GM (Network-III), SBI, along with other senior dignitaries from the Government of Uttar Pradesh and SBI. Their presence throughout the match added to the energy and enthusiasm on the field.
