UP Urban Transport and SBI Sign MoU for NCMC: Making Commutes Cashless and Contactless

Lucknow Desk (Pratyush Pandey).  The Urban Transport Directorate (UTD) of Uttar Pradesh and the State Bank of India (SBI) have signed a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to bring Cashless, Contactless, Secure, and Easy payment solutions to passengers using the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC).

The MoU was formally signed by Shri Mahendra Bahadur Singh, Director/Special Secretary of the Urban Development Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh, and Shri Dheeraj Kumar, Deputy General Manager, Lucknow (West), representing the State Bank of India.

The Directorate of Urban Transport currently manages the operation of Electric and CNG urban buses across 15 cities in the state.

Seamless Travel with the National Common Mobility Card

The NCMC, which the UTD is implementing in collaboration with SBI, is set to revolutionize fare payment on public transport:

  • Card Issuance: The NCMC will be issued at designated counters as well as directly by bus conductors.

  • Digital Application: Passengers will have the option to apply for a digital card through the online portal.

  • Recharge Options: The NCMC can be recharged conveniently using multiple methods:

    • Through the online portal.

    • Via E-Ticketing Machines available with conductors on the buses.

    • At dedicated counters.

This initiative aims to modernize the travel experience, encouraging greater use of public transport by providing a hassle-free, unified payment system.
