Lucknow desk (R L Pandey)। The Department of Trauma Surgery at King George's Medical University is excited to announce Trauma 2024, 14th Annual Conference of Indian Society of Trauma and Acute Care (ISTAC) & 2nd Annual Conference of UP Chapter of ISTAC, a pioneering conference on trauma, acute care surgery, and critical care scheduled from November 8th to 10th, 2024.

The event will be held at the prestigious Atal Bihari Vajpayee Convention Centre in Lucknow, providing a platform for leading experts from around the globe to discuss cutting-edge advancements and practices in trauma care.

Trauma 2024 promises to be a major academic milestone, drawing together prominent trauma surgeons, critical care specialists, and healthcare professionals from across India and internationally. Notably, renowned faculty members such as Dr. Mayur Narayan (USA), Dr. Olivia (USA), Dr. Dan Whitely (USA), and Dr. M.C. A full day of immersive, hands-on workshops will kick off the conference on November 8th, covering

essential skills and techniques in trauma and critical care. These workshops will provide specialized training

and practice in various areas, tailored to enhance the skills of healthcare professionals involved in trauma

management. Highlights of the workshop sessions include: Trauma Ventilatory Management: A comprehensive workshop on the fundamentals of ventilatory support in trauma care, including hands-on ventilator operation and management techniques for trauma

patients.

-Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) and Trauma Ultrasonology and CT Scan: A focused session to build expertise in ultrasound and CT scan applications in trauma assessment, with a special focus on rapid diagnosis and monitoring.

Hands-On Tendon and Vascular Repair: A practical workshop allowing participants to perform tendon and vascular repair techniques, essential for trauma surgeries requiring delicate and precise interventions.

Cadaveric Thoracotomy and Laparotomy with Rib Fixation, External Fixation of Long Bones, and Mandible Fixation: This workshop will use cadaveric models to allow participants to practice complex procedures like rib fixation, external fixation of long bones, and mandible fixation in trauma cases, giving an in-depth understanding of thoracic and abdominal trauma surgeries.

- Workshop for Nursing and Paramedical Professionals: Recognizing the critical role of nursing and paramedical staff in trauma care, this workshop will focus on essential trauma support skills and patient management strategies specifically tailored to their roles.

2. Main Conference on November 9th and 10th

For the first time, Trauma 2024 is hosting a dedicated workshop for MBBS students on November 10th.

This workshop is a groundbreaking initiative aimed at equipping undergraduate medical students with the fundamental skills needed for trauma care. The MBBS Workshop will cover basic trauma life-saving skills and serve as an introduction to trauma management principles. Participants will receive hands-on training in techniques such as:

- Basic airway management and ventilatory support

-Hemorrhage control and stabilization techniques

-Splinting and immobilization for trauma patients

Recognizing and responding to life-threatening injuries

- Effective communication and coordination within trauma teams

This dedicated MBBS workshop emphasizes the growing need to incorporate trauma management training at the undergraduate level, providing young medical students with practical skills that are often only acquired during advanced training. The initiative is a step toward building a strong foundation in trauma care early in medical education, reflecting KGMU's commitment to fostering the next generation of trauma specialists.
