Visit to Nari Niketan,NARI Bandi Niketan, Habuapur, Legal Aid Centre,Faculty of Law, University of Lucknow, second campus, jankipuram

The visit began with members touring the common hall assisted by Deputy Jailor Ms. Sukanya Parashay and Mr. Shashank Shekhar. They outlined facilities like vocational training, education, balanced diet, health care, proper sanitation and hygiene. The team also explored the living condition of the prisoners.

They were also told that the total capacity of the jail is 420 and currently includes 188 prisoners as well as 11 children. One barrack consisted of not more than 20 convicted prisoners. They informed the members about additional facilities provided in the jail premises like the 24/7 availability of the well qualified doctors and the guards.

Members were also given the tour of the different treating centres which were well equipped and ventilated. The visit concluded with members interacting with the inmates through one on one conversation and conducting a survey to collect information about their experience and the facilities they avail.The visit was insightful and facilitated data collection for further evaluation by the concerned authorities.
